كتاباته هو التلميذ المقرب للأنبا شنودة رئيس المتوحدين وهو الذي كتب سيرته، وليس لدينا أية إشارة عن حياته، فلا نعرف أين ولد وكيف نشأ ومتى دخل الدير ولكننا نعرف الكثير عن أفكاره وخواطره ونزعاته الروحية لأن مؤلفاته لا تزال موجودة وأشهرها سيرة معلمه العظيم رئيس المتوحدين كتب أيضًا الكثير من الرسائل والميامر، وفي متحف نابولي مجموعة من المخطوطات بالقبطية الصعيدية تتضمن رسائل ويصا ومقالاته كذلك توجد
