كتاباته هو التلميذ المقرب للأنبا شنودة رئيس المتوحدين وهو الذي كتب سيرته، وليس لدينا أية إشارة عن حياته، فلا نعرف أين ولد وكيف نشأ ومتى دخل الدير ولكننا نعرف الكثير عن أفكاره وخواطره ونزعاته الروحية لأن مؤلفاته لا تزال موجودة وأشهرها سيرة معلمه العظيم رئيس المتوحدين كتب أيضًا الكثير من الرسائل والميامر، وفي متحف نابولي مجموعة من المخطوطات بالقبطية الصعيدية تتضمن رسائل ويصا ومقالاته كذلك توجد مجموعة أخرى معروفة باسم "مجموعة كرزون" محفوظة في المتحف البريطاني تتألف من أحد عشر رسالة كاملة وثلاث ناقصة، وكلها من ويصا إلى رهبانه وراهباته ومع أن كرزون ذكر أنه اشترى هذه المخطوطات من أديرة وادي
